I have to say that I love this site and for those of you that are crying about it need not to get onto it and waist every ones time with your stupid complaints. I myself also put up a lot of lights and some may think that my display is taky. If so more power to you because I know that I like it and that is all that matters. I would not mind if some one posted a picture of my home here because that is just what they think and I dont really care. It is fun to see the pics. and the message about those display's but that does not mean that I am a scrooge or kat, it is fun and if you dont like it then you need to just get over it and move on. Props to you kat for the website, looks great and I enjoy checking it out.

I want you and every one to know that I love this site. I myself put up a lot of lights, so much the houses next door do not need to put any up. I like looking at this site, at the pictures and what people say about the display. It is not mean if you can take it, it is ment to be funny and I think that if you dont like it then move on and forget about it. If some one happend to put a picture of my house on here I would not be upset because I dont care what others think. The only thing that matters is that I like it along with my kids. Great job Kat, its great!

oh well.... at first i thought your blog was funny, then after reading your hate mail, i realize their reactions are valid. people are different, we all decorate differently, no need to publicly shame those who are just enjoying the season. i too made fun of someone before - i actually bullied someone - not one of my proudest moments. what's done is done, i can't undo it.

Wow... I don't know how to thank you. Making fun of Clark W. Griswold's house down the street is a favorite past time of mine as well. The Mail Bag is great too. How many hypocritical, too-much-time-on-your-hand-ers will make themselves painfully known today?

    Keep up the good work!

I wish I had discovered your blog sooner, I would have mentioned it on my blog for SURE. My 12 year old and I were sitting here laughing at your pictures. :)

I'll have to bookmark this for next year.

Hi... i tripped over your blog and stuck around long enuff to get a good laugh. When i look at some of those yards, i wonder if the decorating was done by Jim Beam, Johnny Walker and Yukon Jack. What a riot!

wow you have the power to make people pass what was it? ordanances? better get working on illegal immigration then.

or at least let california know that their whole anti christian, tacky yard decor really isn't working out.

if you have the power to basically move earth and heaven(what people in your hate mail have implied) how come the sky hasn't fallen yet? or are you just holding out on us?

i really love your site like most other(normal, mentally sane) people. I just have to assume that your I-love-you-so-much-i-hate-you hate mailers are a little ill in the head.

Hey I really enjoy your website. Keep strong against the tide of morons who don't see things like you. I wish I could write as creatively!!

    Anonymous said...

Don't mind the haters. I love your site. It's all in good fun, and obviously, at least some of your viewers appreciate the site- they sent in their own pictures! Can't wait for next year.

    Kat,
Thank you for giving me my best laughs this week, and for allowing me to bond with my teenager as we laughed the violations and he planned his own tacky Christmas yard. I think the Liquori family's participation in your tribute says it all.

I feel moved to say that unfortunately the grammar and spelling of your positive comments is far worse that that of the negative ones. Dieing?(fairy10) Waist? ment? happend(jdsnyder) Oh dear me. Credibility shrinks with every mistake.

I love the idea of this blog. I actually made a post on my blog back in November about one of my neighbors yards (read it here). Good stuff...keep it going next year!

OMG!! I just came across your site. I have not laughed this hard in a long time.....

I have to tone it down cuz everyone else is asleep here!

This is precious! And pure fun!
    Your comments are hilarious!

So glad I stumbled in here. So many of these beat the crowded one down the street from me. And I get a huge laugh during the day at all the dead inflatables.

LOVE the website!!! I actually had this idea myself, but i'd like to focus specifially on those states that don't receive any snow during the holiday months. I think one finds the most "creative" displays down there ;-) Creative being the key word.....

Thanks for the fun site! Maybe you can branch out and do Tacky Lawn ornaments or something so we can enjoy it year round.

    Dear Kat,
I think this blog is hysterical. When I first saw it, I thought you were just a scrooge and agreed with the people's comments, but then after reading your replies, I have to say, your blg cracks me up! Yes people can put up christmas lights, and when they are done right, I love seeing the decorations. It puts me in the spirit, but the houses you show are exactly what you say, tacky. Now some are more than others, but they all have alittle bit of "tack" in them. Besides, its your opinon on the matter, so who cares what other people think, obvilously you dont. Please keep writing and I can't wait to see more.

There are so many wonderful things on your blog & website, but I just now got a kick out of seeing the google ad for "giant inflatable snowman"!
If it weren't for your site, how could we revel in the total tackiness of our neighbors everywhere across America?
Laughter is good for the soul!

    Kat,

I think that you missed the 'opportunity' to point out that 'Ray' has a little 'problem' with misuse of 'quotation marks'.

I love your site. I beg you to PLEASE put up a site for tacky Halloween decorations next October! Are there plans for that?

    addie said...

kat, you are something else, what a great site.
--i love the emails that say, "mind your own business", as though you are intruding in on these quiet, unobtrusive decorators, to find their solemn, religious statuary, just so that you can ruin their holiday.

---we mustn't let the humorless win!

    Karah said...

Frankly, looking at the absolutely ridiculous misconceptions of decorating that you shared here put me in the Christmas spirit. The hate mail, in my opinion, is rather off base. It's amazing that people really get so worked up, but I guess that's just how people are.
Also, your replies to the haters were very well-written. Nice combination of grammar and wit; I laughed and had no problems understanding what you were trying to say.
I hope you do continue this. Honestly, what good is ANYTHING if you're not willing to make fun of it a little?

Hooo Boy, stumbled upon your blog too. The examples here just reinforce my suspicion that way too may folks just go through the motions. Come on Marge, just put baby J out there somewhere. Don't want the neighbors to think we're heathens. Can't wait to see next year's.

We must be part of the same Grinch family, because I laugh at tacky Christmas displays, too! Way to keep a great sense of humor about it all, and I LOVED your responses to the people who have sent "hate mail!" Why is it that the more defensive a person is about a topic, the worse his/her spelling and grammar is? Weird.

    Crystal said...

Your blog is hilarious - and the fact that you post "evil mail" is fabulous! These people never had to look at your site to begin with and they never have to look again, so what's their problem?

We find joy in laughing at people's craziness. Isn't that what Christmas is all about? JOY? YES!

BTW - every year at Christmas time, my family and I would drive to a town nearby just to look at and laugh at everyone's yards full of crazy lights. So I guess we're scrooges too. Ha!

    Can't wait for next year!

well props for the blog, i love it, even though its kinda late that i noticed this blog for sure i will be back next year though! well bye, have a great weekend!

I don't usually mind them if its the odd lights but illuminate the whole front garden and house. That's being ridiculous. Can't stand the flashing lights but I like the illumated Santas, Reindeer and snowmen.

Woo! I'm glad you could melt my face(seriously, it's been frozen in an awful position since winter began) I laughed harder than I ever imagined! Me and my mother enjoyed your site so much! I'm coming back to visit next year and all the years after that as long as you keep this thing going. A lot of those hate mailers you have just want a reason to wine. None of it even sounds lucid or legitimate on their part.

    Much love,

Really and truly, one of my Holiday stops in blog land year after year! Terrific stuff! I love Christmas lights, I tend to put alot out myself, and these yards you show, are hilarious! For all those of you out there who are so fired up about this site? GET-A-GRIP. If you cant see that a front yard with 60+ inflatable snowmen in it is overkill, AND funny, you need to unclench just a little.

what is wrong with people? Too much is just Too much, but it is very funny while bad on the eyes.

I'm super late to the party but I just stumbled on your blog. The only thing I would've done differently would be to sign my reply "Karama-lama-ding-dong"

I don't get why people (who are more than entitled to their dissenting opinions) don't get why these yards are worthy of commentary. I mean aside from the way they look (gack!), the pure excess of a lot of these displays is shameful given the cost of energy and the economy being in the toilet.

Love the site, can't wait to read more next year.
