What is with the gingerbread militia? One group is disguised to be a band and the rest are about to slide down the roof to take on the snowmen. Please, God, don't let it be true that those figurines can come to life at night...

Why is there a skater on the roof with all the reindeer, gingerbread men and Santa and Frosty?

Can't get the larger image to open up. But I laughed about the gingerbread militia! Definitely too much going on here.

Regardless of how "tacky" someones yard looks, it's not for us to decide. What happenned to freedom of speech and freedom of expression? Did all that just go out the window because someone "doesn't like" your display. By posting actual pictures of yards, and houses, you're actually publicly trying to HUMILIATE people. As for the global warming... They're paying their bills, so what is the problem? It just means their energy bill will be higher than someone else.
I rather looks at a "tacky" yard that is celebrating christmas, than at one that is dark at night and has nothing at all.
Where is your christmas spirit people? This isn't communism and we should not impose rules as to what is right/wrong...

This entire site is tacky; as in tasteless to do in the first place. May the owners burn in Hell.

when I look at the large oil stain below the Jap car in the drive, and then gaze upon the abundance of red lights... only one thing comes to mind. Santa is all about "no blood for oil"... and baby jesus is in there too.

When someone is running up their electric bill, they are affecting us all. Cost of energy is interrelated. When you use a lot of electricity, it will eventually contribute to the rising cost of coal(which is use to make electricity is most regions). When coal prices goes up, then the cost for heating home goes up. It is simple economic.

I run up my electric bill just for the hell of it. I keep it a toasty 78 during winter and a cool 68 during the summer. It's worth every penny and SCREW AL GORE AND ALL YOU LIBERAL LEMMINGS!!!

I agree with the person above. I'll use all the energy I feel like. Screw the greenies. Those bastards are trying to take our lightbulbs away for the ones filled with mercury. Not gonna happen in my house. I'm gonna buy enough for the rest of my life before the ban. I also love the decorations.

To each his own. That's what makes America such an interesting place to live. I love it. There are people to laugh about everywhere...the Griswald's of the block (and there is one on every block thank God), the snooty uptight people that take life so damned seriously, the snooty uptight people who think "there should be laws against to many xmas lights", etc, etc, etc. If you can't have fun in your lifetime, what the heck is the point? You should move to some other super strict country and let Americans have thier freedom! Our sons and daughters and brothers and sisters and fathers and mothers are dieing over seas so we can have the freedom to do whatever we damned well please! Also, don't complain because you have to close the shades to get dressed because of the traffic. YOUR NEIGHBORS DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU NAKED EITHER...EWWWW! Your shades should be closed anyways if you are removing your clothes!!!

Have fun, be jolly, laugh alot, and have a Merry Christmas and Happy friggin New Year!!! LOL Ahhh Life if good.

Who cares? At least they are celebrating Christmas! Who are any of us to judge? Did anyone here get a degree in exterior design?
With so many people not even doing anything for Christmas, why start making fun of the people who are showing off their Christmas Spirit. Everyone here should be ashamed of themselves for making fun of other people. The owner of this site should really be a shamed. This is no better then high school kids making fun of someone. Isn’t it time to grow up and act like adults?

This website is to poke fun at people who express their extreme love for Christmas through over-decorating. Anyone who takes this site seriously and is actually "offended" needs to lighten up. No one ever said anyone was taking away their amendment rights. And in that case Kat is also expressing her freedom of speech right to make fun of them. Soon you won't be able to make a joke about anything. Tis the season to be JOLLY remember?

I ACTUALLY THINK THIS ONE IS CUTE-I'M PARTIAL TOP SNOWMEN THOUGH. EVERYTHING LOOKS SYMMETRIAL SO-I GIVE IT A THUMBS UP! I WOULDN'T DO IT, BUT IF IT WAS NEXT DOOR, I'D LIKE IT

A lot of people missed the comment in red at the top of the site about how it's just 'for fun'. Honestly, I think most of the stuff on here kinda deserves to be up. Some people either overdo it or don't do it right. Personally, I had me some good laughs. :P

Love the site! The pictures are great and good for a laugh.

I love the sight.
It is unfortunate that some people are taking the opportunity to vent their political views here, instead of enjoying the pictures and having a good laugh.
'Tis the season to "lighten up".
I thank the site creator for starting the site.
And by the way - there may be a new business opportunity here - designing Christmas displays for people's yards.

I say forget about all the nay-sayers who don't seem to have a sense of humor. I think this site is hilarious. Thanks for doing it!

I'm glad so many people like it, and sorry for those that don't. It is meant to be fun, and if you want to think it's meant to terrorize people, that's fine- I recommend you find another site to visit, because this one is only going to get you grumpy before the holidays. I will only censor comments that are not family appropriate. Otherwise- feel free to discuss whatever you want related to these pictures. Be careful though- someone might find your comments to be TACKY ;)

Kat, Kat, Kat,

The reason why everyone was upset was because they probably got to you website through the Yahoo arctile containing the link to this website. The Yahoo article was atrotious and mentioned such things as making it against the law to have too much christmas decorations and that the neighbors have no privacy (to undress in front of an open window). I thought this site was funny, but the article really ticked me off. I love humor. The article was not humorous in the least and when people start to feel thier freedom and rights may be taken from them for such minor things as celebrating the Lord's birth, and that our ancestors and brothers & sisters over seas have lost thier lives for nothing, it can tend to strike a nerve in a whole lot of people.

Just a little explaination - since you obviously don't seem to understand.

This is GREAT! There's a guy in Oak Brook, Illinois who puts out loads of decorations too. I couldn't find his pic on your site. There's lines of cars to see it. Lights up the whole neighborhood. He starts planning the next year even before he's taken down for the current year. It's like his "thing". Some guys golf, some play poker, some watch TV, this guy does Christmas decorations. Nice to view once a year, but glad I don't live next door!

Thanks for the much needed chuckle which this site is meant to give..no one needs to be offended..just enjoy.. and celebrate the holidays however you wish. Merry Christmas!!

I hate snowmen!

The chain link has trapped Frosty - get the bolt cutters

Seriously, some of you need to lighten up. You have a right to decorate your yard in the manner you see fit. However, that does not exempt you from criticism and ridicule for doing so. Freedom of speech is a two-way street, ya know. Sorry, but a lot of these house are tacky.

By the way, great blog!

Dear anonymous coward # 7 and 8: You'll be thanking liberals and greenies later when your grandchildren have an inhabitable planet to live on.

Good site! The tackiness is just so Griswaldy. I'm sure many people are laughing at themselves. A few years back, I went with my friend and our children around the neighbourhood to view the Christmas displays. Most of them were very nice, not too overdone. Some groups of houses even collect donations for charity. Then my children and I showed our friends our Christmas display. One of us opened and shut the venetion blinds (I was renting so no choice of window dressing), another of us flicked the fluro lights on and off (sorry no choice again) and the other turned the torch around. It was a great laugh not to mention TACKY. While i enjoy the show of Christmas spirit, I am concerned that the amount of money spent on lighting and electricity could be put to more charitable uses.

Good point, what the hell happened to freedom of Speach?...Isn't that what this site is all about? Freedom of speach? Freedom to voice our opinion without judgment by uptight onlookers who obviously haven't laughed in a while?! I am beginning to think that perhaps you are bitter because your house was posted on this site!

Relax

oh my gosh this yard is like, an army from the north pole or something! its so.... blinding! runnnnn awaaaaay!

I just have to point out, although it seems as though everything has basically been said already, that one of the posters some how felt that making fun of Christmas decorations was related to the Iraq war... I think my house is a little over-done with the decorations, and might well deserve to be up here, but I still laugh when I see houses like this. Not that I don't enjoy seeing giant inflatable decorations and "gingerbread militia," but half the fun is pointing the absurdity of it all out to your friends. Our wastefulness as a society would make me sad, but those lights are just too darn cheery!

By night, folks are displaying what they believe to be a winter wonderland. I feel all of those blow up lawn ornaments only present what looks like a terrible massacre during the day when people don't turn them on.
